  I decided to stop by for lunch because I saw they served mofongo. I ended up having the oxtail special which comes with a salad and rice with beans, and the mofongo on the side. The oxtails were some of the best I've had! They were so tender and the broth was so flavorful I could not help but dance in my seat while I was eating them! The service was quick and friendly and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely be back to check out more of their extensive menu.

  El Punto is on the Highway 90 service road, but if you don't look hard, you will miss it. There is street side parking with no parking lot of its own. The restaurant is in the corner of the building facing Highway 90.
  
  The dining room is plain. There is a small bar with bottled beer. The staff are very friendly whether you speak Spanish or not. There is nothing to tell you what kind of restaurant this is.
  
  El Punto is not a Mexican restaurant. It has wonderful Caribbean food. I came specifically for the stewed goat, which is only served on Saturday. But unfortunately it was sold out before i came to order take out.
  
  I had the mofongo with conch. Oh, MAN is it good. I don't know how to describe it. I think it's fried smashed plantains with a dark cream sauce and sliced conch. It's delicious. I was given some hot sauce that will peel paint in 5 seconds. My mouth is still on fire. I enjoyed the few peppers that were in the dish.
  
  There was a small salad that came with the meal. It had an interesting dressing. The corn made it really different for me.
  
  It's not a dessert, but I had the fried sweet plantains as if it were one. They were tender, sweet and had a little crispiness too. Very nice.
  
  The bill was around $22. Don't expect a fancy restaurant. In fact don't expect anything more than chairs and tables. But you can expect that you will receive delicious food.

  Since moving to Mobile, I have always skipped over Pascagoula and went to Ocean Springs or Biloxi whenever I wanted a bite to eat outside of town.  After eating at El Punto, I can now say that I have been making a big mistake!
  
  I finally ate here today, and it was amazing!  I haven't eaten too much Caribbean or Latin American food before, so I can't speak towards the authenticity of the food at El Punto; however, I can say that it is extremely tasty (and seemed to be authentic from an outsider's perspective).  They have daily specials for $11, which come with a main, salad, white/yellow rice, and red beans.  I got the pulled pork main, and it was sooo tender and juicy!  I loved every bite of it, and it paired well with the sides.
  
  I also got a side order of 3fongo ($6), which is a mofongo made with three types of plantains.  I've never had mofongo at a restaurant before, but it was a very unique and delicious dish.
  
  You can also get other main dishes, ranging from about $10 to $30, and they have a variety of interesting side dishes (mangu, yucca, fried plantains, etc.).  I will certainly be back here again to try all their other dishes!
  
  Lastly, the restaurant is small.  I like small restaurants, though, because the chef and wait staff can focus more on each customer.

  Been coming here for quite some time now and there isn't a day where it was bad. Always leaving here with a happy stomach only thing I want after eating this place is my bed. I tried their beef, chicken and recently just had their pork ribs and all was very tasty. Also ask for their yellow rice and their mango juice.  Mango juice could be too syrupy so I always ask for a glass of water in the side to dilute it down for my preference. Fried plantain is my new favorite here. My friends always ordered it but never really ate it and took it to go so I thought it wasn't good but I finally ordered one which only cost 3 dollars. Fried plantains reminded me back when I was a kid. I always had it with rice and always get so excited when I see my parents cook them for lunch or dinner. Anyways service is always great here and very friendly.
